I was really interested in the first book to this series, Across The Universe. Before I began reading it, I had heard about the book and knew I absolutely had to get my hands on it! I also reviewed it last year. [Review] I fell in love with the book almost immediately. These books have a lot of different elements to them. There's mystery, suspense, intrigue, and each chapter just gets better and better. The characters are transcendent, theres a multitude of characters and they each play very particular, unique parts in the story. I have been awaiting A Million Suns impatiently since I finished Across The Universe. I started A Million Suns with the notion that I was going to enjoy it, but I ended up falling in love with it even more so than Across The Universe. A Million Suns is a book about mysteries, deceit, loyalty, fear and frustration.

The two main characters, Elder and Amy are by far my favorites out of the book, and that's not just because everyone else seems to be a crook. Amy, only months after her awakening from her cryo box is fiery, feisty, and knows how to fight back. Amy is opinionated and doesn't take anything from anyone, not even Elder. I love those qualities in a female herione more than anything. The Point of View in the book switches off between Elder and Amy throughout every other chapter. Elder is only sixteen but yet he's expected to lead the ship after the death of Eldest. It doesn't help that Eldest left the ship at the same time exposing Phydus, a drug used to keep everyone in line, but also that Orion is now leaving clues for Amy even in his death. Orion after doing far more damage than good in Across The Universe is now frozen in a cryo box because no one really knows what to do with him. Elder starts unraveling mysteries regarding the ships transportation, safety, and passengers. Elder cares so much about everything and everyone, he geniunely wants the best for everyone on Godspeed and refuses to bow down.

One of the main storylines in A Million Suns is the fact that everyone is rioting against Elder. No one thinks that Elder can lead them and they're under the assumption that the ship has stopped moving indefinitely and that they're never going to make it to "Centurai - Earth." People stop working, start having mental breakdowns, anger outbursts, and start taking on a whole bunch of independence that no one knows what to do with. Without the passengers being on Phydus, most of them are not doing anything they're technically supposed to, so the making of food slows down, the crops go unharvested until there's none left, and the people become manic.

On top of all that, one of Elder's old friends Bartie starts leading the revolt against him. Elder has to take back the entire ship, one step at a time. Bartie ends up being a key player in this book, one that I began to understand more and almost appreciate toward the end. Amy starts following the clues that Orion has left for her thinking what could the actual harm be? As Amy uncovers clue after clue, she and Elder hurriedly chase after the other one to gain more knowledge. Orion knew everything and in turn, he's sharing everything with Amy and Elder, for the better of the ship. These secrets are not just secrets, but major life changing events that effect everyone. While Elder and Amy search for clues, Amy hides away from the passengers of Godspeed, Elder tries to get a handle on things, and they both try to get a handle on one another, there's also someone killing people on the ship, again. This person is sparing absolutely no one and sending a direct message to Elder. " FOLLOW THE LEADER."

This book is just a huge emotional rollercoaster of mystery, plus many Dystopian and SCI-FI' esque touches that make it so interesting!! I couldn't put this book down, and when I wasn't reading them, I was thinking about them. It's such a fun and enjoyable ride as you go through each and every step with Amy and Elder! I cannot wait for "Shades of Earth," the third and final installment of this trilogy. Beth Revis is such an amazing writer, I just can't imagine how this series could get better, but I'm happily ready to be proved wrong!
