Author Spotlight: Jennifer Laurens.

Welcome to my first authors spotlight! When I write about someone, it's because I truly feel strongly about their talent. Well, when it comes to Jennifer Laurens her talent is undeniable. I first came across Jennifer Laurens on Facebook and noticed we had mutual author friends. I soon found out that she was an author herself with quite a few stories in her repertoire. "Heavenly" was the first book of hers I read, she sent it to me as a birthday gift. That kind gesture is offered to all of her Facebook friends on their birthdays. Jennifer Laurens has proved to be such a kind woman with a heart of gold. I've come to understand her better through her writing. She writes with so much truth that you can't help but feel every word as if it's your own. Through the conversations I've had with her these things have continued to ring true. Here's our quick interview.

- At what age did you first start writing?

"I started in 6th grade. I'm an only child, so my stories revolved around
huge families solving mysteries! Think Nancy Drew born in the Brady Bunch or Walton's."

- Out of all the books you've written, which character do you relate to the most?

"There's a little bit of me in all of my characters. Like children,
you pass down some of your good, bad and odd characteristics to each."

- Are you the kind of writer that has to make themselves sit down and write, or are you one who finds inspiration everywhere being forced to scribble things down on napkins?

"I have no trouble writing, the trouble is stopping.
I have 6 children now and there's no end to the story lines I collect.
My family is my greatest muse."

- Is there anything you've written that you've looked back on
and wished you'd written it differently?

"No. I did what I thought was best for the story when I wrote it. That said, the beauty of being indie published is I own the rights to all of my work and can go back and change whatever I want, whenever I want to and call it a revised edition. Something I just did with Magic Hands updating it from email between the two characters to Facebook."

- What can you tell me about your upcoming projects?

"Have you read Overprotected? That's this year's book. Next year's book is still in my head. Still working on it. Almost done! An under wraps urban paranormal-ish
YA with plenty of emotional intensity and sexual tension."

In response to Mrs. Lauren's question, I have not read "Overprotected" yet but I plan on it.
You can bet that all books by Jennifer Lauren will also be reviewed on this site.

I really connected with her book "Heavenly." It was amazing how much I could relate to the main character, Zoe. I originally reviewed it on Goodreads -- "Heavenly is a truly unique book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It has an amazing storyline filled with twists and turns along the way. I really loved the variety of characters represented throughout the book. There were quite a few people and situations presented. In my opinion, it'd be very easy for most people to find someone in the book to relate to. I found this book quite refreshing and absolutely brilliant. Although this story was a fictional tale, a lot of the information was extremely real. That information was genuine, powerful and emotional. It showed both the pure, beautiful side and the dark, twisted side of life. I really did not expect the ending at all. I was so surprised it literally took my breath away. All in all, this read was really spectacular and I cannot say enough good things about it. I definitely recommend it to absolutely everyone. I've also had the pleasure of talking to the author myself and Jennifer Laurens is a class act. I can't wait to read the sequel, Pentinence!!"

[Look for a "Pentinence" review soon!]
